MIAMI, OK.--- The Ottawa County Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign raises $23,000. That's triple the amount of the previous year. This year's campaign also exceeded their goal of raising $15,000.

Members say they are more than thankful for the community's generosity. All money raised stays local to help hundreds of families in need. Volunteers say the funds will be stretched out to last all year.

"It's just going to enable that people of this county in Northeast Oklahoma to be fed better and have the clothes and help that they need," said Roy Woods, Salvation Army.

The Ottawa County Salvation Army helps more than 100 people each month.
