GOODMAN, MO.--- A professor with the University of Missouri released his summer outlook today. Tony Lupo is predicting another hot and dry summer ahead of us and farmers should start getting prepared.

This prediction is due to the earth's atmosphere not quite switching over to an el nino weather pattern in which we typically see more rainfall.

Lupo says we will most likely see above normal temperatures and a normal amount of rain. Even that may not be enough to combat the effects of last year's drought

"It takes awhile to get back out of it, and we really need above normal precipitation to help us get out of that," says Tony Lupo, MU Atmospheric Science Professor.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, last year's drought affected nearly 80% of land in the four state area.
