Instead of ink, it uses a composite power to build an object. It does take several hours for the printing to be completed. Educators say if you can design it on the computer, it can be printed out in 3D.
"You can take any 3D concept and put it directly in a physical product," said Norman Philipp, PSU College of Technology.
The printer isn't cheap.The starting price is $59,000.
