NEOSHO, MO---  The E.P.A. awarded Neosho $30,000 to conduct a green infrastructure study. The money is paying for consultants to identify Green Areas, which are used to naturally gather stormwater run off. City developers say a good example of a Green Area is the natural pond outside the Neosho Fish Hatchery. It decreases pollution to local water ways by treating rain where it falls and helps keep polluted stormwater from entering Neosho's sewer system.

Neosho's Development Director Dana Daniel says, "It can benefit neighborhoods, they are going to look better. It can help minimize, if done properly, flash flooding. It can make water ways look better and work more efficiently."

Neosho was one of 16 cities nation wide to receive the E.P.A. grant. The green consultants will present their findings to city council members and the public at a meeting on April 17th at the Crowder College Maret Center at 9 A.M.
