WHEATON, MO.--- 3 of the fire victims were a family, Mary Henning and Corey Hasche were engaged to be married. Mary also had an 8 year old son, Brandon Thurston. Jonathan Gemmecke and Molly Doherty were found dead in the second apartment. The fire started around 3 yesterday morning at the Blue Ridge Apartments. Officials believe it started in a second story apartment, but they're not sure what caused it. It took crews 2 hours to bring the fire under control.

Friends and family raced to the complex hoping to find loved ones alive. Melissa Cooper knew her sister, Mary's apartment was on fire, but she held out hope that Mary, her son Brandon and her fianc Cory were alive. She even frantically drove around, searching for them. With no luck, she returned to the scene, where authorities told her the 3 were asleep and died from smoke inhalation.

"At least with Mary, Brandon, and Corey at least the 3 of them did not suffer. The way we look at it is they were already asleep they just never woke up," states Melissa Cooper, Family Killed in Fire.

Melissa said her nephew was very excited about Christmas this year and he had so much to look forward too.
