JOPLIN, MO.--- The 3rd annual "Dickensfest Holiday Destination" is set up in Murphysburg. It's located on Moffet Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets. Dickensfest features an outdoor English village with local actors playing the roles of Dickens characters, including Ebenezer Scrooge. The celebration also includes a live nativity, carriage rides, petting zoo, and hundreds of Christmas lights. Organizers say the event is also a way to teach people about the historic neighborhood.

"One of our main functions of having this big event in the historic district, is to bring people down here and see our beautiful homes. A lot of people have lived here their whole life and don't know these homes exist," states Paula Callihan, Murphysburg Board Member.

Dickensfest is free and open to everyone. It will take place tonight through Sunday from 6 to 8:30 in the evening. If you would like to view the Dickensfest webpage, click here.
