PITTSBURG, KS.--- 2013 brings a new year, and a new addition to the Schoonover family.

"It's exciting," says Tabatha Schoonover, New Mother.

The last thing Tabatha Schoonover expected yesterday was to deliver her baby.

"My due date actually wasn't until February 2nd. Me and my roommate were actually going to baby-sit 4 kids for New Years and so we had to cancel our plans," says Schoonover.

She welcomed her first daughter Brooklin Nicole into the new year just after midnight.

"She's a very quiet baby. She might be easy to take care of. Not a whole lot of crying," says Schoonover.

Brooklin weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and was 19 and a half inches.

"It was a shock to us all. We never expected we'd have the baby on New Years," says Schoonover.

Mylinda Schonover was excited to ring in the new year with another granddaughter.

"Very proud, very very proud she did so good," says Mylinda Schonover, Grandmother.

Both spent the first day of 2013 with family and friends by their side, and this year Brooklin has made some special New Year's resolutions.

"Try and be a good mom," says Schoonover.

"Just spoil her rotten," says Mylinda.

Tabatha says she's excited her daughter will be remembered as the first baby born at Via Christi Hospital in 2013.
