JOPLIN -- The Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon center hosted their annual "Christmas Bird Count For Kids" Saturday morning in Joplin. Dozens of big and small children, along with a few bird watching pros, split up into teams and walked through the trails searching for different species of birds. Organizers say the walk helps show younger residents how to enjoy Mother Nature.
"We really want to encourage them not just to count birds, but to also take time to learn and observe their behaviors," says Chris Pistole.
Some kids didn't leave empty handed. The team who spotted the most of our feathered friends walked away with prizes.
