JOPLIN, MO.--- Joplin Museum Complex Director Brad Belk has spent the past quarter century piecing together Joplin's past. He received recognition from local, state, and federal officials today honoring his labor of love. Over the years, he has written books and recorded videos on the history of the area. Belk says he's honored to be able to record Joplin's rich history.

"I am so pleased that in 1931 someone came up with idea that maybe we ought to have a museum here that reflects our past, and I've just been very fortunate to be able to work here," states Brad Belk, Director, Joplin Museum Complex.

He also became a part of American history when representative Billy Long entered Belk's name into the permanent congressional record this week.
