The university is continuing to perform due diligence on establishing a satellite campus in the City of Joplin. Wallace says the economic impact to the Joplin community would be in excess of $50 million a year.
Representatives from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences were in Joplin last week to receive an official proposal and to continue their research. An exact location for the proposed satellite campus has not yet been announced.
However, Wallace and Bajjali had proposed building the site at the current library location at 4th and Main. Once the library has relocated to 20th and Connecticut, an official decision is expected to be announced sometime in April.
