Stan Elmore Benefit

CARL JUNCTION -- Hundreds of people showed up at the Carl Junction High School to help raise money for music teacher Stan Elmore. He has been the music director at the intermediate school for the past five years, but has been on medical leave since the second week of school due to complications associated with a brain tumor. Dozens of volunteers helped attendees enjoy chili, a silent auction and blue grass music. There was even a special performance by the sixth grade honor choir known as "The Treble-Makers."
"Our family, we love doing music," says Lynette Cole of the Cole Family Blue Grass Band. "The good thing about music is we not only have fun doing music, but if we can do an event like this, and we know we're helping someone out, that's like a win-win."
"I understand he's in the hospital, so prayers, if anybody is so inclined, I'm sure he would appreciate it," says David Johnson, a friend of Elmore.
Donations to help Elmore can also be made to a trust fund set up in his name at any US Bank.
