A Nice Day To Play

Updated: March 15, 2013
JOPLIN, MO.--- A lot of folks took advantage of the nice weather to hit the greens and play a round of golf. The Schifferdecker Club House stayed busy throughout the day, with the phone ringing off the hook with players making tee times.

Despite the wind, players of all ages hit the course and the putting greens. Players say they've been waiting for the right kind of day to break out their golf clubs.

"It's a great day to be out here playing a great game of golf. It's good exercise for everybody, have fellowship with your peers, it's just a great day to come and play some golf," said Randolph Glover, Joplin Golfer.

One local golfer added it's a chance to use the nice day as an excuse to get out of some "honey do's."

Meanwhile, other people used the sunshine and nice breeze to paint, but not with a brush. These kids and adults got a chance to play paint ball. Customers have an option between several courses, and a game can last up to 3 hours.

Players took longer breaks between games to enjoy the weather, so today the games lasted longer than usual. Workers at paint ball ridge tell us it's a timeless game, anyone can play, especially with nice weather.

"We get anywhere from young children with our splat master, all the way down to 6, 7-years-old, all the way up to 45/50/60-year-old adults as well. It's kind of all over the place," said Alex Watkins, Paintball Ridge.

He adds, as the temperature outside rises, so does the waiting list to play of game of paint ball.

Did you know that over 5,000 people die each year from distracted driving in the United States alone?

Did you also know that studies show that texting while driving impairs a driver in the same manner as being legally intoxicated?

That's why KSNF, KODE, and Fourstateshomepage.com are teaming up with Hershewe Law Firm, First Missouri Insurance, Freeman Health System, and McDonald County Telephone to bring you Four States No Text Zone! This is a new program meant to do one thing: get all drivers in the four state area to pledge to never text while driving.

Help us put the brakes on texting and driving. Click below and sign the pledge, visit any of our sponsors to pick up your thumb band, and then follow through on your word. We're all counting on you.
