beagle12008-04-29-1209512111.jpg  Hundreds of Joplin animals will  be getting a new home.

Construction will soon begin on a new Joplin Humane Society building.

It will be located on north main street  next to the old dent and ding building.

Mary Anne Schlou is on the Humane Society board.

She says the new facility will be 15,000 square feet and it will more than double their old facility.

On Thursday at 1pm , the public is invited to the location.

A new Humane Society sign will be placed at the site.

Also 60 balloons will be released. It will symbolize the years the shelter has served the public.

Construction should be completed by the end of the year.
