Joplin, MO - Studies have proven how beneficial therapy dogs can be for a variety of patients, and now some local pups will start making a difference.

Seven dogs took the Delta Society certification exam today.

The pups have to pass 30 tests designed to see how they react in stressful situations.

If they pass, the dogs can then represent the Delta Society as therapy dogs in schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and anywhere else they're needed.

Six of the seven dogs passed.

The new Delta dogs will be available for therapy in the fourstate area.

If you're interested in getting your dog tested as a Delta dog, or in having a therapy dog come to your organization, visit
