Joplin, MO- Jasper County officials file theft charges connected to money missing from Boomtown Days accounts.

Kim Lester is charged with felony theft and stealing of property or services worth $25,000 or more.

The Joplin Police Department began investigating Lester last December after receiving reports of missing event funds. Lester had served as the festival's financial chairwoman. It's alleged she mishandled funds meant for the Boomtown Days Festival. She resigned from her position at the Joplin Chamber of Commerce in January.
