Overcrowding at Miami's Animal Welfare Society

Miami's Animal Welfare Society sees an increase in abandoned pets.
Employees have picked up many boxes full of puppy litters off the side of the road and under bridges.
They have also picked up dozens of older dogs wandering around.
Directors say that's causing the shelter to be overcrowded.
Every week 15 to 20 animals dropped off at the shelter by their owners are turned away due to lack of space.
"It's just heartbreaking, it really is because there are not enough homes for all of the animals and we try really hard to get people to get their animals spayed and neutered," says Irene Keheley, director of the Animal Welfare Society.
