CARTHAGE, MO -- Troopers say Purdy was traveling westbound on C.R. 2080 when his vehicle veered off the road, and ended up in a private pond.  Purdy was able to get out of the vehicle after the accident, but drowned.

Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant Mike Watson says troopers are looking into what may have caused the accident.  "We're looking into whether or not it was a medical condition that caused the accident"  Watson explained.  "We're talking to family members about that right now.

Family members told troopers that Purdy may have been on his way to Tulsa when the accident took place.  Troopers say there will not be an autopsy since the death has been ruled a drowning.  But the coroner is waiting for the results from toxicology tests.
