Republican U.S. Senate Hopeful Sarah Steelman Campaigns In Joplin.

JOPLIN, MO -- During her stop, Steelman expressed very conservative views about the size of the government, and it's spending habits. She isn't the only candidate on the Republican ticket. Congressman Todd Akin, and St. Louis businessman John Brunner are also running for the seat. Steelman says if she's elected, her first order of business will be to get washington back on track. "We need a smaller government, we need a balanced budget, we need to quit spending money we don't have." Steelman explained during her speech.
Voters will decide who gets the Republican nomination for the seat during the August 7th Primary. The winner will face off against Democrat Incumbent Claire McCaskill.
