CARTHAGE, MO.--New information is released in a Carthage homicide investigation.

According to court documents 45-year-old Juan Mendoza cut the victim's throat with a machete.

Mendoza is charged with second degree murder for the crime.

Autopsy results show the victim, 43-year-old Mario Gonzalez, sustained 3 strikes to his neck and showed no signs of struggle or defensive wounds.

His body was found floating in Spring River two weeks ago.

Authorities say he often stayed at a Carthage homeless camp near where his body was found.

Mendoza is being held on a million dollar bond.

He's set to be arraigned Thursday.
