JOPLIN, MO---Today, members of Joplin city government and emergency management gathered at M.S.S.U for a FEMA Think Tank conference call. The meetings are designed to help community leaders prepare for disasters. Joplin city officials shared how crucial it is to organize volunteers and have designated shelters for victims. Deputy FEMA Administrator Richard Serino, who was in Joplin the day after the tornado, says it is amazing to see how much progress the city has made. This was FEMA's fourth Think Tank meeting but their first involving tornado disaster recovery.
