$5 Million Donation to Mercy Hospital Joplin

JOPLIN, MO - UAE Ambassador to the United States Yousef Al Otaiba made the announcement in Joplin this morning. The $5 million will fund a pediatric section of the hospital's first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

This will allow them to provide specialized care for ill or premature newborns. Once built the new section will be named in honor of the United Arab Emirates. "What we saw in Joplin obligated us to help." said Otaiba. "We felt a moral responsibility to help. Those of us who are privileged to be in a position to assist others, we see it as a responsibility not an option," he explained.
