JOPLIN, MO.--More than 50 kids take a dip in the new pool at Cunningham Park after it took a hard hit by last year's storm.

This crowd lined up at the pool this morning to try out the 2 new slides that were put in as well as the new kids playground.

City crews spent months repairing the pool after it was destroyed by the May 22nd tornado.

City officials expect this to be the busiest pool this summer.

10 year old Dre Durall says,

"I've been waiting this whole year, cuz i want to get on the slides and swim so bad."

Pool Operator Austin Bolt says, "They really I know wanted to take a big part and put a lot of money into this pool to show representation about how much we've come in just this past year. It's a big spot for everybody to come and cool off during the summer."

There are 9 lifeguards on site at the Cunningham Park pool at all times.

The pool offers a free swim on Monday afternoons between 1 and 3.

Operating hours for all Joplin pools are 1 to 6 in the evening.
