JOPLIN, MO.--- Children's author, David Sargent Junior brought the inspiration for his books to school today. He showed the kids three dogs whom he often writes about. Many of 333 elementary students seemed thrilled to watch the dogs perform tricks during the special presentation. School librarian, Katie Moore says the underlying educational message is one she hopes will stick with kids

"I think it's important for kids to be inspired by writers to see their real life, they can see them and listen to them and it's not all based behind a book, it's right there in front of them to see and experience," states Moore.

This is the first interactive author visit at Royal Heights Elementary School. It's something school administrators say they hope to make an annual event.
