JOPLIN -- Saturday marked the grand opening of Golden Paw Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Joplin. Shelter operators say their mission is to help find homes for pets in need. Over the past few months they've found homes for more than 100 pets. The cats and dogs come from individuals who drop them off, or from overflow at the Joplin Animal Adoption and Resource Center. Shelter managers say they want people to know if they're looking for a new pet, a rescued animal is a great option. The shelter is located on north Main Street in Joplin, just south of the intersection with Zora.
