NEOSHO -- The Newton County Republicans hosted their bean feed in Neosho, held the Saturday before each election. Congressman Billy Long, gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence and Senator Roy Blunt were just a few of the candidates at the event. Each speaker was given five minutes to address local voters. There was also a bean and cornbread dinner, along with a raffle for a deer rifle. Organizers say this is a great way to encourage residents to vote and to volunteer. Those who attended were also able to sign up to volunteer working at the polls this coming Tuesday.
