JOPLIN, MO.--- Existing Joplin School Board members, Michael Landis and Dawn Strickland, have filed to continue in their seats. Each position expires this April.

School Board President Randy Steele says this is a very important year for Joplin schools, and having strong and knowledgeable board members is key.

"This is pretty nice to have continuity on the school board and to make sure that we can continue things in a rapid direction without having to slow down and do a lot of training as well," states Randy Steele, President, Joplin Board of Education.

Since there are just candidates for the two open positions, state law allows them to take office without going through the election process.
