JOPLIN, MO.--- This week is National Future Business Leaders of America Week. Joplin Mayor Melodee Colbert-Kean signed a proclamation to recognize the organization. The F.B.L.A. is a program that works to help develop business leadership and strengthen students confidence.

It also helps create more understanding of American business and helps students transition from school to work. Mayor Colbert-Kean says it's important for the students to know the City of Joplin is behind this effort and the city is dedicated to helping them succeed.

"This is their chance to interact with the business world while they're in the educational system. This helps them find out what they need to know to help them be successful in the business world when they graduated," said Melodee Colbert-Kean, Joplin Mayor.

F.B.L.A. is a nonprofit education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business or business related fields.
