JOPLIN -- Volunteers at Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center introduced a group of kids to what makes a bunny hop Saturday. Groups searched the trails for other rabbits and learned what kind of food and habitat our long-eared friends enjoy. Instructors say the class shows kids that rabbits can be cool, even if they are not carrying candy.

"Whenever you learn an appreciation for nature at an early age, that not only helps you with some developmental milestones you need to make, but it also teaches you a stewardship of our natural world, and when you understand something you come to accept it and love it," says volunteer coordinator Kerstin Landwer.

Kids also had a chance to take a picture with a real live bunny rabbit to remind the Easter Bunny when he comes around that he has company.
