JOPLIN, MO- With temperatures expected to dip below freezing across the area, your pets are in just as much danger from the cold as you are.
Administrators with the Joplin Humane Society say there are some things you can do to help protect your pets.
Deanna Leinmiller, with the Joplin Humane Society, says to keep their coats clean and free of debris, make sure their dog house isnt facing north and keep food and water fresh and unfrozen.
"If you have house dogs that youre taking out for a walk, their used to the house temperatures, so you might put a coat on them," Leinmiller says. "While youre walking, you want to make sure that if they get into salt, that you rinse their feet off as soon as they get back home."
Leinmiller says you should also make sure your pets have fresh bedding to lay in, and if it gets to cold she says to just bring your pets inside.
