Kids Benefit from Dog Therapy

Joplin, MO - Local kids who are learning to read are benefitting from the help of man's best friend.
A program at the Joplin Public Library called Dog Day Afternoon pairs up young readers with certified therapy dogs.
The kids are then able to practice reading out-loud without fear of judgement.
Program coordinators say they've seen kids blossom in the stress-free environment.
The dogs are certified through the Delta Dog Society and are able to encourage the kids just by sitting quietly.
Any child who can read is welcome to the event.
Dog Day Afternoon happens the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
