The Joplin Humane Society will receive a $10,000 grant from the A.S.P.C.A. Joplin is one 56 animal shelters from across the nation to receive the grant this year. The extra funds will be used to help the shelter hold it's own adoption event. Community Outreach Coordinator for the shelter Tianna Fisher says they feel fortunate that Joplin was picked. "It helps us continue with our mission of saving lives." Fisher says. "The more animals that are adopted, means the more room we have here at the shelter. So it's extremely important for us to get these animals into permanent loving homes.

Fisher says the adoption event will take place during the last weekend in March. And their goal is to adopt out approximately 250 animals over the weekend..
