Pittsburg Woman Arrested for Animal Cruelty

PITTSBURG, KS---21-year-old Savannah Smith faces seven counts of cruelty to animals.

Pittsburg Police were called to Smith's home on 18th Street yesterday afternoon to check on the welfare of a dog.

When officers arrived, they found two severely malnourished dogs penned in the backyard.

In the basement of the home, officers found two more malnourished dogs and three dead puppies.

The four surviving dogs were taken to the Pittsburg Animal Shelter.
