Kansas commissioner of education Dr. Linda DeBacker toured Pittsburg State University and Pittsburg High School Friday.

She was invited to southeast Kansas by administrators to tour the technology education laboratory and see how professors are shaping tomorrow's tech teachers.

DeBacker says there is a shortage of technology education teachers and Pittsburg State is at the forefront of changing that.

DeBacker says she will brief the Kansas Board of Education on her visit to Pittsburg State, as well as her tour of Pittsburg High School earlier in the day.
