JOPLIN, MO.--More than a dozen Joplin families find their photos that have been missing since the tornado.
More than 100 photos were claimed today at the Joplin Public Library.
The Lost Photos of Joplin project provided the pictures that were found scattered throughout the Four States after the storm.
Coordinators of the project say there are about 27 thousand photos still left to be claimed.
Residents who found their pictures say it's a good feeling to get a piece of your life back.
Joplin resident Shelby McMillen says,
"It makes me feel like there's hope, I mean I know there's more pictures out there I mean I had more than 2,000 pictures of my parents and my grandparents you know every little photo counts...one is better than none."
Unification Coordinator for the Lost Photos of Joplin Donna Turner says, "You know it is a memory, and it's something that cannot be replaced and it's just a small little bit of their life. We're also finding now that as we get closer to the anniversary that people are getting more emotional about it."
If you missed this event you can still claim your photos.
Organizers are putting on another event May 12th and May 19th at the Northpark Mall from 10 am to 4 pm.
Organizers will also be at the Joplin Public Library on May 22nd from 10am to 4 pm
