JOPLIN, MO -- City leaders anticipate large crowds and lots of traffic for 'Day of Unity' events.

Organizers encourage drivers to plan ahead for parking and to arrive early.

People taking part in the 'Walk of Unity' can park in the lots near the roundabout in Duquesne.

Several retailers in Joplin have also offered their lots for public use.

At Cunningham Park, seating will be limited and event organizations appreciate anyone who can bring their own lawn chairs for extra seating.

"Parking's going to be a challenge whether you are at the starting line or at the finish," Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau Patrick Tuttle says. "Think about carpooling. Think about dropping your car at Cunningham to get yourself back. Think about how you are going to get yourself back and forth."

Shuttles will start running at 6:30 P.M.

They'll travel east from Cunningham Park back to range line following the walking route. Participants should ask shuttle drivers to stop at their preferred drop off locations.

A map of the walk route is available on the anniversary website www.joplintornadoanniversary.com.

The map outlines the Unity Walk's route, as well as the four commemorative stops, as well as hydration and first aid stations and portable toilet locations.
