JOPLIN, MO -- The Owen family gets the keys to a home thanks to the international relief organization 'Convoy of Hope'.

It's a new post tornado home that's both disaster-resistant and energy efficient.

The May 22nd storm destroyed the family's two bedroom home.

'Convoy of Hope' volunteers rebuilt the residence in the same spot on 26th Street and S. Bird Avenue in Joplin.

The family says the reinforced concrete walls take some of the worry out of future storms.

"This is a good chance for her to start a new page," homeowner's daughter Deloris Spurgeon says. "Maybe it'll help heel some of the wounds."

"They all have a spirit of wanting to see the city rebuild," Covoy of Hope Senior Public Relations Director Jeff Nene says.

"They are good people out there and they are willing to lend an extra hand when we need it," Joplin Mayor Melodee Colbert-Kean says.

This is the first of 12 homes completed by 'Covoy of Hope' in Joplin. They are currently working on six others.
