JOPLIN, MO--

Golden Paws Pet Resort in Joplin is collecting recipes for their first cookbook. It's a fundraiser shelter organizers have created to raise money to help offset the costs of taking care of rescue animals.

You have until October 1st to submit your favorite family recipes to be featured in the book.  In addition to food, there will also be a special section in the book for people to submit instructions on making dog, cat, and horse treats.

"They are not just coming in to purchase a cookbook or give us a recipe, it's the involvement. When they come in to bring the recipes in, they come and they see the dogs, they tour the facility. They meet the dogs that are up for adoption so they have a connection," says Golden Paws Manager Rebecca Johnson-McCall.

You can pick up a recipe form and turn them in at Golden Paws Pet Resort, located at 2301 North Main Street in Joplin.
