92 Year Old Joplin Woman Votes Along With First Time Voter

JOPLIN, MO.---- 92 year old Phyllis Lone Hutchinson hasn't missed an opportunity to exercise her voting rights in more than 70 years.
"Every time from when I was legal to vote. Every time, I've never missed," states Phyllis Lone Hutchinson, Jasper County Voter.
She says it's her responsibility as an American.
"I think it's my duty to take care of those things," states Hutchinson.
Supervisor Judge Dixie Boyd-Carter has been working the polls for 10 years.
"For our precinct I just think it's been a great turnout. I think there's a lot of interest which is good, people just coming in to vote," states Dixie Boyd-Carter, Supervisor Judge.
Boyd-Carter says in precinct 4 the age of voters is varied, and she saw several first time voters. One of them was Missouri Southern State University Student, Mark Blackmon.
"My dad called me this morning, he was like I need you to get up and go vote and I was like as soon as I wake up I'm going to the polls and voting," states Mark Blackmon Jr., First Time Voter.
Blackmon says he didn't know what the ballot would even look like.
"It took me sometime to read it over and make my choices. This is my first time ever doing this. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know what to expect," states Blackmon.
Hutchinson who is a novice voter thinks it's great young voters like Blackmon turned out.
"Amen they should. We should take advantage of voting. Every country can't do it and we can," states Hutchinson.
For her this election was extra special.
"I'm 92, I felt like I should vote it's my duty. So here I am, yes probably my last one too at 92," states Hutchinson.
Workers say there was a line waiting at the door at the polling center at Missouri Southern State University's Justice Center before they opened this morning at 6.
