Pittsburg City Commission Trash Service Meeting

PITTSBRUG, KS.-- Pittsbrug city leaders say the Cleanup Committee is designed to help eliminate trash and littering around Pittsburg. Those on the task force would only propose ideas before the commissioners, and would not be able to make any permanent decisions. Local trash haulers and their customers were uneasy that the committee could propose putting the city's trash services out to bid.
"If it isn't broken, then don't fix it. To me, this trash system has been working for decades. I mean I just don't really see a problem," states Chris Norris, Norris Trash Service.
City commissioners did approve the resolution to appoint the task force. However, they also allowed each trash hauling business to have a representative put on the committee. Commissioners say they have no intention of ever allowing the trash services to be put out to bid.
