Joplin Social Security Office Shorten Hours

By: Shayla Patrick
Updated: November 16, 2012
JOPLIN, MO.--- Beginning Monday, the Joplin's Social Security Office will only be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Representatives from the State Social Security Office say reducing daily office hours by 30 minutes will allow them to cut down on the amount of overtime paid to employees. The administration is tightening their budget due to limited funding. The office serves about 110 people each day. Administrators say since most claims can be handled over the phone, they don't anticipate the change having a dramatic effect on the public.
