BAXTER SPRINGS -- Thanks to a school bond, the Baxter Springs school district will soon be breaking ground on a new middle school facility near the high school. Last week, administrators met with two companies wanting to turn the old building into affordable housing for senior citizens. District officials say this would help keep the historic building as a strong part of the community. The school board will open up a bidding process next week, and hope to have plan for the building soon They will break ground on the new middle school in January.
