COLUMBUS, KS--- Jerry Jinks loves his co-workers, literally. He works with his wife Cheryl, and his mom Violet making holiday fruit cakes.

The family owns Jinks Fruit Cakes, located in the middle of a corn field in Columbus, KS. The family has been making fruit cakes for 60 years and Cheryl met her mother-in-law when she just a kid.

"She knew me when I was 7 years old. I used to go into the bakery in Oswego and my mother would tell her not to sell me any chocolate because I was allergic to it," says Cheryl.

Fruit cakes are an acquired taste, and Jerry says that children really don't tend to like them, mostly because of the texture.

Orders for the Jinks fruit cakes come in from all around the world. They ship their cakes to France, Germany, and even Switzerland. Cheryl says that the shipping often costs more than the cake, and recently it cost $70 to send a cake to Germany.
