JOPLIN -- The owners of Steve's Trading Post in Joplin say they are having a tough time keeping guns in stock. The boost in sales started after the shooting in a Connecticut elementary school two weeks ago. One of the most popular models is the AR-15 assault rifle, which was one of the weapons used in the school shooting. Owner Steve Richards says one reason for the increase is people are concerned about new restrictions on owning firearms.

"We had a big increase when they directly started talking about fun control. Now we're already seeing some bills drafted, they're talking about limiting magazine capacity as well as registration on certain types of rifles."

Richards also says the registration process to purchase a new gun is taking extra time because of the increase in gun sales state wide.
