JOPLIN, MO.--- The Missouri Department of Agriculture announced new spay and neuter grants available to animal shelters, rescue groups, and non-profits. The grant money comes from the sale of "Pet Friendly" license plates sold throughout the state.

Each individual plate donates $20 to the Missouri Pet Spay and Neuter Fund. The Golden Paws Pet Resort plan to apply for this grant, which would allow them to reduce overall costs for customers.

"If we were to get a spay and neuter grant and the money be paid to have these animals done, we can reduce our adoption rates which makes it a little bit better for everybody," states Mary Ann Guarino, Golden Paws Owner.

There are 10 grants available during this 2013 grant cycle of $2,000 each, eligible groups must apply for this funding by February 15th. For more information, click here.
