Friday's collection was free to the community. Even though the $10 fee was waived, the city didn't miss out on any money since the cost for recycling TV's and monitors was covered by a corporate grant.
"I was really surprised that that many people were ready to come out on a Friday, it wasn't even a Saturday and we had over 335 cars come through just in a short amount of time and it's exciting, so I hope that they carry that over into their other daily routines," says Mary Anne Phillips, Joplin Recycling Center.
Carl Junction is planning a similar event at their recycling center on January 25th.
