PITTSBURG -- Aaron McConell of Mac Fitness joined "Heroes on Horses" to help kick off the "True Grit Challenge" Saturday. The event featured physical activities and nutritional advice to help kids learn about childhood obesity. Tampa Bay Buccaneer and NFL rookie Lavonte David was also on-hand to sign autographs. True Grit is a 12 week program made possible by a $1,000 grant from Youth Services America. The challenge will end with a 5K run on April 20 to help raise money for a good cause.

"The proceeds from that 5K are going to go to a program called "Heroes on Horses," which is an equine-assisted therapy program that's geared specifically toward US military veterans and their needs," says Youth Services America grant co-author Vallerie Sweeton.

If your child would like to take the True Grit Challenge, stop by Mac Fitness in Pittsburg this Wednesday at 7PM to sign up.
