JOPLIN, MO.--- St. Mary's 5th grade students spent their morning baking, cleaning, and crafting at the Ronald McDonald House. It's an annual day of service the students participate in as part of Catholic Schools Week. House directors say this volunteer work helps them save time and teaches these young students valuable life lessons.

"It's important that kids learn that they can impact others, whether it be through donating their time or helping out. It doesn't have to be monetary donations, they can help in other ways," said Tara Horinek, Ronald McDonald House, Associate Director.

The 5th graders working today are very familiar with the house, they are the same group who toured the house and learned about its purpose as 1st graders 4 years ago.
