MIAMI, OK.--- The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has based agent Jeremy Yerton at the Miami Police Department. It's a new initiative to help small law enforcement agencies get faster help from the O.S.B.I. when solving cases like homicides. Yerton will help investigate crimes in Ottawa, Delaware and Craig counties. The O.S.B.I. is based in Oklahoma City.
Yerton says being based in a particular region is more beneficial for both the state and local agencies. "This way you have a quicker response time. The quicker we can get on scene and assess what's going on and begin that investigation, the better the chance of a successful outcome."
This is the first time the O.S.B.I. has based an agent in northeast Oklahoma.
