JOPLIN, MO.--- The Bishop of the "Springfield Cape Girardeau Diocese" expresses his opinion on the search for a new pope. Bishop James Johnston held mass at Saint Peters Church in Joplin today.

It was a special ceremony for children in Joplin area Catholic schools. After mass, he told us he's glad the selection process is starting Tuesday. He adds, the new pope will face the big challenge of trying to proclaim faith more effectively.

"We live in new times, with all sorts of challenges. New means of communications, political situations that are entirely new," said James Johnston, Springfield Diocese Bishop.

Bishop Johnston says it's important for the new pope to focus on attracting the younger generation to the Catholic faith.
