Governor Jay Nixon on Topic of Health Care

JOPLIN, MO -- Political leaders say the topic of health care will play a critical role in this years elections.
This week Governor Jay Nixon called on the Missouri House of Representatives to restore health care coverage for the blind.
Committee members recently made budget cuts to a program that provided health care for more than 2,000 blind Missourians.
Nixon says everyone should have access to quality health care.
The governor also recently commented on the progress the city of Joplin has made to rebuild health facilities.
"We continue to see in this region significant capital investments to rebuild and restore health care infrustructure that was so damaged by the tornado. Clearly it's a significant part of the economy to down here."
Nixon's campaign website says nears 700,000 Missourians, including 121,000 children do not have health care.
